Ara, 9 June 2023, (RNI): Even after 27 hours of tireless efforts, the teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) could not save life of a teenage boy in Rohts district. The deceased was identified as Ranjan Kumar 12 son of Shatrughn Prasad alias Bhola Shanof Khirigaon village under Nasariganj police station in Rohtas district.

Parents of the deceased said that Ranjan Kumar was missing since 5pm on June 5, 2023 and they were searching for him but in vain. Meanwhile, a woman heard crying of child in the afternoon on June 7, 2023 from the pillar of the bridge and within fraction of second, hundreds of villagers assembled and tried to rescue the child but failed in their efforts. They were also informed that a child trapped in between a pillar of Bridge over the river Sone on Nasariganj-Daudnagar and an approach road. They rushed to the spot and found that it was Ranjan Kumar. At about 4.30pm the SDM Upendra Pal came and requisitioned the SDRF and the child was administered oxygen time to time.  At about 9.30pm a team of SDRF came and tried to rescue the child but it also failed. Then the the NDRF was requisitioned and both the teams the NDRF and the SDRF together were pressed into operation to rescue the child safely. The teams with the help of Poclain machine, removed soils from the approach road and took out the child at about 6pm on June 8, 2023 and rushed him in ambulance to the Sasaram Sadar Hospital where doctor declared brought dead. People said had the NDRF and the SDRF used Poclain machine earlier, life of the child could have been saved but they did not want to break the approach. Parents of the child said that Ranjan Kumar was mentally weak and he had come out of the house to catch pigeon and came here and trapped. But the question is still unanswered as to how Ranjan Kumar came here covering 12 kilometers from his house and trapped in between the pillar and the approach road.
