MISCREANTS SHOT AT AND INJURED A TOBACCO SHOPKEEPER FOR NOT GIVING EXTORTION IN BHOJPUR VILLAGE

ARA (RNI) Some unidentified armed miscreants shot at and injured a tobacco shopkeeper at Kapil Chowk under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district in the morning on October 15, 2024 and escaped from the scene in protest against not paying extortion amount to them. The injured was rushed to a private nursing home at Ara. Sadar SDPO-2 Ranjeet Kumar Singh along with the SHO Koelwar police station Subhash Kumar Mandal also arrived at the spot and started investigating the matter. The police recovered two blank cartridges from the spot. An FIR has been lodged with the police under Koelwar police station in this regard and the police are conducting raids to arrest the miscreants. The injured was identified as Ram Dayal Chaudhary 50 son of late Kapoor Chand Chaudhary of Koelwar village under the same police station. Chaos prevails in and around the area following the incident.

The injured Shopkeeper Ram Dayal Chaudhary said that he ran a tobacco shop at Kapil Dev Chowk for the last 34 years. On October 8, 2024 at about 8.30pm someone called him saying that he was speaking from the ‘Sipahi Gang’ and dictated him to part with Rs. 5 lakh as extortion and threatened him with dire consequences. And so he gave a written petition to the police under Koelwar police station on October 10, 2024 in this regard. He further said that he was sitting in his shop in the morning on October 15, 2024 when motorcycle borne three armed miscreants came and queried as to whether Bhai had said something. The shopkeeper denied and said if they wanted to buy tobacco. At this the miscreants pumped two bullets into his body and escaped from the scene.

The onlookers said that the miscreants after perpetuating the crime, fled away towards Chhapara.
