One newly married woman was killed merely for Rs. 50,000 as dowry at Itimha village under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district.
Ara, 14 May 2023, (RNI): One newly married woman was killed merely for Rs. 50,000 as dowry at Itimha village under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district. Police brought the body to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. An FIR has been lodged with the police under Tarari police station against nine persons namely including four brothers-in-law, two nephews and two sisters-in-laws and the husband on the statement of the deceased’s brother. Later the police arrested the husband and are conducting raids to arrest the named accused. The deceased was identified as Pushpa Devi wife of Gulabchand Paswan of Itimha village.
Quoting the FIR, the SHO Tarari police station said that Binod Kumar of Kapsiya village under Rajpur police station in Rohtas district married his daughter Pushpa Devi with Gulab Chand Paswan son of Amawas Paswan of Itimha village under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district in July 2022. Since she was tortured merely for Rs. 50,000 and when their demand was fulfilled, the in-laws hung her to the ceiling and killed her.
