ARA------------------------Irate family members and acquaintances blocked the road at Mahavir Tola under Nawada police station with the body of a married woman in the late evening on November 11, 2024 whose small intestine and uterus were cut off by a doctor during abortion. The deceased was identified as Jyoti Kumari 25 wife of Indrajeet Kumar of Dhundhua village under Ara Muffassil police station. The agitating people paralyzed the movement of vehicles for about two hours and raised slogans against the police administration and doctor. They were demanding stern action against the doctor and compensation for the family members of the deceased. The blockade could be lifted after positive response of the police officers. Later the police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Indrajeet Kumar, husband of the deceased said that his wife Jyoti Kumari was pregnant. She slipped and fell to the ground in the village when she was going to attend call of nature in the morning on October 26, 2024 that caused severe pain in her stomach. He took her to a rural doctor who admitted her to a private nursing home at Mahavir Tola where the doctor advised abortion as the embryo in the womb was damaged. After getting consent from the family members, the doctor operated on her for abortion and during operation, he cut off the small intestine and uterus of the patient and as a result her condition deteriorated further. At this the doctor sent the patient to another private nursing home promising to meet all the expenses there but after the patient was admitted there, the doctor and his staffs locked the private nursing home at Mahavir Tola and escaped from the scene. But the condition of the patient deteriorated further considerably and so the family members admitted her to the Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctor referred her to the Patna Medical College and Hospital in precarious condition but the family members could not take her to Patna due to financial crunch and at last the patient Jyoti Kumari breathed her last during treatment.
