MARRIAGE OF TEENAGE GIRL COULD BE AVERTED AFTER HER FRIEND INFORM THE POLICE ON TIME

Sasaram, 25 June 2023, (RNI): Parents were preparing to marry their teenage girl to an elderly person at Vishunpura village under Amjhora police station in Rohtas district after fraudulently increasing date of birth of the girl to 18 years in the Adhar Card but the friend of the girl reading the class VII informed the police on time on mobile about the illegal marriage of her friend. On information, the police swung into action and reached the village and stopped the marriage. The police got a bond posted from the parents of the girl with a promise not to marry their daughter till age.

Akhilesh Paswan of Vishnupura village under Amjhora police station was to marry his 14 years old daughter reading in class VII to a 42 old elderly person of Sewahi village under Tilauthu police station in Rohtas district in Jharkhandi temple at Dehari on June 23, 2023.

SHO Amjhora police station Kusum Kumar Keshari said that as the friend of the girl knew about the illegal marriage, she at once informed the police on June 22, 2023. The police swung into action and brought the parents of the girl to the police station and apprised them of the laws of child marriage and penalty. The parents of the girl showed the fake Adhar Card to police and claimed that their daughter is adult. The police, disbelieving them, knew about the age of the girl registered in the admission register of the school from the Headmaster that showed that the girl was only 14 years of age. The police warned the parents to take legal action against them if they marry their daughter before the age of 18.
