MADAM’S EXTORTION BOY! CORRUPTION IN PRADHAN MANTRI AWAS YOJANA

ARA--------------------------A woman officer in Bihar carries an ‘Extortion Boy’ with her. She herself does not take a single penny but she has deputed a separate man for this. A video of demanding money for adding name in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has come to light in Bhojpur district. The video is said to be of Nagari village under Charpokhari block in Bhojpur district in which MNREGA workers are demanding money from people for in lieu of adding names to the waiting list of Indira Awas Yojana. The villagers demanded an inquiry and action from the SDO, Piro.

The government has launched scheme for the poor for their rehabilitation and for the purpose through the Indira Awas Yojan and the work is going on under this scheme and the government gives money to the beneficiaries whose names are in the list of the scheme. Meanwhile, a case of demanding money from the people wishing to get their name added in the Indira Awas Yojana at Nagari Panchayat of Charpokhari block in Bhojpur district after a video became viral on social platform. It is seen in the video that the MNEGA worker has been given responsibility to add names of people to the waiting list of Indira Awas Yojana. It is alleged that the MNREGA worker is taking undue advantage of it and is demanding illegal amount from the people. This MNREGA worker is appointed by the madam and she collects money through him. It is also seen in the video that the MNREGA worker is not taking the money herself. She has hired a boy to take money. The local villagers complained to the SDO, Piro Anil Kumar and demanded an inquiry into it. They also demanded stern action against the guilty.

Villagers said that money is being taken for adding names but the officials are mute spectators. They further allege that MNREGA workers are involved in corruption and are taking illegal money from the poor villagers. They said if no action is taken, they would be compelled to resort to protest and the district administration will be responsible for it.

Piro SDO Anil Kumar said that he has received information about the video and added that he will investigate the matter and take strict action against the guilty. He further said that the government is strict about corruption and no corrupt employee will be spared.
