ARA (RNI) Leaders are like ships in the sea and people are like the sea which remains forever though the leaders come and go. They come and go but the people are like the sea. The irony is that in elections it is the people who support the leader and but the people does not matter for the leaders after the elections.
Senate member, Veer Kuer Singh University, Prof. Baliraj thakur said that during a voter awareness campaign, terming the decrease in voting percentage as lack of awareness among the people. He said that the success of democracy depends on the aware public. The thinking that ‘No matter how innocent we are, it will be out loss” will take a healthy democracy backward. He further said that voting is an integral part of the democratic process. Sacred voting can make a healthy democracy. Prof. Thakur said that leaders make dirty attempts to entangle democracy in caste system to usurp power. Such leaders can never be called politicians. He added that voters cannot choose a good representative by remaining surrounded by temptation, fear and commitment. Today the level of politics has dipped further and undesirable measures are being used to garner votes. In such a situation, only aware voters can take the right decision and select the right representatives. Even if a voter is educated and suffers from a narrow mindset, he or she cannot take the right decision. The responsibility of selecting representatives lies with the people only. Prof. Baliraj Thakur said that if the people have the right to vote, it is very important to fulfill one’s duty by voting. If everyone understands this, the voting percentage will automatically increase.
