ARA----------------------------People are forced to park their vehicles on roadside due to lack of parking system in Ara. This creates a very serious problem and traffic snarl. Still the Ara Municipal Corporation is not taking any action to streamline the problem. Besides, due to dense population of Ara and narrow width of roads, traffic jam is a perennial problem at all the intersection every day. It causes a lot of problems for the residents of Ara vehicle owners as well.
The Ara Municipal Corporation was established in the year 2007 and since 16 years have passed,. During this period, many mayors have come and gone and it was decided in the meetings of tenures of every mayor to provide parking facility and parking points were earmarked but till date not a single parking lot has been constructed properly.
In the year 2023 somehow a parking lot was constructed at Mahavir Tola in Ara but that too is half incomplete. Its construction has also been made improvised. Paving has been done due to which its level is below the road during the rainy season. Water is getting filled and parking is possible in this situation.
The population of Ara is around 3 lakh. Due to dense population in and around the main market, encroachment of roads and less width of roads, jam has become a perennial problem. People are worried even if the government is not serious to this problem.
People of Ara have more than 50,000 two wheelers and four wheelers while in Bhojpur district there are more than three lakhs two and four wheelers. Hundreds of people from rural areas come to Ara, headquarters of Bhojpur district every day for various works and the number of vehicles is quite large. In such a situation, jam scenario created and that due to reduction in the width of the roads. It there is enough parking space, people may get relief from the traffic jam to a great extent.
Municipal Commissioner, Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) Neeraj Kumar Bhagat said that efforts are being made to arrange parking but the effort is cumbersome due to lack of availability of land. Still continuous efforts are being made to make arrangements for parking. Every possible effort is being made to improve the city and make it jam-free very soon and added that public cooperation is needed in this.
