Ara, 11 June 2023, (RNI): With a view of rejuvenation of the Veer Kuer Singh Park earlier called ‘Lal Park’ has been handed over to the Forest Department. The Municipal Commissioner, Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) Neeraj Kumar Bhagat handed over the park to the Forest Officer Raj Kumar M for the purpose. Now the Forest Department will rejuvenate the park and beautify it.
The Forest Department will repair defunct fountains, boundary walls and walls of the pond in the middle of the park and fill it with fresh water. New chairs for sitting of people and swings will be set up and different varieties of flowers will be planted after removing chandeliers.
It may be mentioned here that some years ago this park was renovated and beautified with the estimated cost of Rs. 45 lakh and over two hundreds trees were cut down. Two fountains were installed and bricks were studded on the four walls around the pond. A cafeteria was opened and guards were deputed and entry fee is realized from the visitiors. But this park turned into a lovers’ point for young girls and boys. If reliable sources are to be believed, the custodian of laws themselves patronized illegal activities inside the park. Some obscene scene and boys and girls in compromising position may be witnessed in the park allegedly by greasing palms of the guards. This incident takes place almost daily but on valentine day the park becomes heaven for the youngsters. Once the then District Magistrate was shown the clips of young girls and boys in compromising position inside the park but even the DM paid no heed.
Now once again the park is to be renovated by spending huge amount and people said that the park will meet the same fate.
