Harsimrat K Badal warns women against Cong conspiracy to rob them off their franchise
Says earlier AAP befooled them after promising Rs 1,000 per month and now the Cong was making a promise of giving Rs 1 lakh per year.
Mansa (RNI) Former union minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today warned women to beware of the Congress party’s conspiracy to rob them off their franchise by making them fill forms offering them Rs one lakh per year.
The Bathinda MP, who was campaigning in this assembly segment, said women had come up to her and told her that Congressmen were approaching them with forms promising them Rs one lakh per year. Terming this as a fraud, Mrs Harsimrat Badal said “I warn you not to get misled again. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) befooled you by promising you Rs 1,000 per month in the last assembly elections but has failed to give this amount till now. Now the Congress party is offering you Rs one lakh per year. Like the AAP, the Congress, has no intention of fulfilling this promise. It has only been made to rob you off your franchise”.
Mrs Badal also urged the people to evaluate the Congress with its other promises which it had made in the past. “Former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh promised to waive off your agricultural loans. Youth were also promised an unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 per month. Both these promises remained on paper only as will this one”, she added.
The SAD leader also took the AAP government to task and asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to explain why he had had not released the Rs 1,000 per month promised to women till now. He also urged the women to ask AAP representatives coming to seek their votes to first deposit Rs 26,000 in their accounts at the rate of Rs 1,000 per month for the last 26 months.
She also urged Punjabis to remember how both the Congress and AAP governments had curtailed social welfare benefits given to them by former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. She said the Congress government halved the 30 kg of wheat given to the people by the SAD government to 15 kg while the AAP government had limited to it only five kg of flour. “Lakhs of atta-daal cards have been deleted even as the old age pension has also been severely curtailed”.
During the interaction with the Bathinda MP, women also complained how the drug menace was destroying their families. Many women also disclosed how they had approached the police, but no action had been taken against the drug traffickers. Asserting that drug traffickers were immune to action in the AAP regime, Mrs Badal said “this is because AAP legislators are taking monthly from the drug mafia”. She announced that eradicating drugs and the drug mafia would be the number one priority of the SAD once it formed the government in the State.
