ARA--------------------------Under the banner of Janhit Parivar, Ara, as part of its Silver Jubilee fortnight programme, the 25th edition of a street play ‘Bahadur Bitiya’ was staged in the open air at the main gate of Ramna Maidan Stadium at Ara. Sarfaraz Ahmed directed the play while hundreds of people watched the play.
Director Sarfraz Ahmad said that Bahadur Bitiyaan is a play based on the evils of the dowry system in which an educated girl refuses to marry because of dowry. Her steps emboldened the boy who goes against his parents and agrees to marry the girl.
Chairman, Janhit Parivar Pratinidhi Sabha, Atul Prakash said that even in the 21st century, dowry system is prevalent like a curse due to which female foeticide is taking place and various types of atrocities are being committed on them. Justice for gender requires that Society should discourage dowry system, extravagant wedding and ostentatious and pretentious marriages.
Among those who participated in this humorous folk song and musical street play were Ambuj Kumar, Anil Singh, Aarti Rai, Gauri Kumari, Sanjay Pal, Kumar Narendra, singer Parmanand Premi (head of Dumra Panchayat), Nageshwar Kumar, Jitendra Kumar, Laddu Saheb Aman, Rishi Kumar, Bihariji, Shalini Shri, Sarika Pathak, Usha Pandey, Dharmshila Devi and others.
