ARA-------------------------Indian Postal Department had to pay Rs. 29 lakh and 722 with interest in response to the lawsuit filed by the complainant Renu Devi. The payment was made after the State Consumer Commission rejected the appeal of the Indian Postal Department.
Renu Devi wife of Brij Kishore Prasad of Ramgarhia under town police station at Ara had filed complaint in the Bhojpur District Consumer Commission against the Indian Postal Board Manager Postal Life Insurance in the year 2015. The District Consumer Commission, after hearing both the parties, ordered the Indian Postal Department to pay Rs. 10 lakh with 10 percent interest to the complainant on March 21, 2017 but the Indian Postal Department appealed in the State Consumer Commission against the order but the appeal was rejected on March 14, 2023
Chairman, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Bhojpur, Krishna Pratap Singh said that the complaint case number 9/2017 was executed under which the Indian Postal Department paid Rs. 29 lakh and 722 including interest to the complainant Renu Devi. He told that the appellant had deposited Rs. 10 lakh in the Postal Department under the PPF. The Postal Department was reluctant to give the money and so the appellant appealed to the District Consumer Commission.
