ILLEGAL PRIVATE CLINICS, ULTRASOUND AND PATHOLOGY CENTRES ARE RUNNING AT THE COST OF LIVES OF POOR PEOPLE

ARA-----------------------Not to speak of urban areas of Bhojpur district, clinics, ultrasound and pathology centres are being run illegally in rural areas too with impunity stripping the innocent poor rural patients. The owners and directors of these illegal institutions exploit the patient. Villagers are becoming victims of fraud but the Health Department is still sitting idle turning Nelson’s eyes towards this menace. The negligence and connivance of the Health Department is helping the directors and owners of these illegal institutions to exploit the poor patients and have given free hand to play with their lives. While the government claims that all the facilities are available in the government hospitals, the operation of the illegal institutions particularly in the rural areas belied the tall claims of the government and also proved the hollowness of the claims clearly.

The condition of almost all the village markets in Bhojpur district is such that even people who do not know anything about the health services, put up huge boards and banners and have become doctors overnight. Those who used to work as labours or do other types of work suddenly came into the category of doctors by putting up boards though no one know about as to where they studied or when did they study and because of such people, poor patients are not only being exploited but many of them even lose their lives.

Besides, such ignorant doctors or quacks also play with pregnant women and do the work of midwifery and claim lives of the patients or the lives of new born babies many times, despite the Officials of the health department and the district administration and local police stations do not take action against these quacks boosting their morale.

The poor rural patients,, due to lack of money, are forced to go to such quacks for treatment and become victims of fraud. However, these rural doctors or quacks surprisingly extract more money in their illegal clinics from the poor than the government hospitals.

At the direction of Health Department, Bhojpur district administration and the officials of the Health Department conducted raids at illegal Ultrasound, pathology centres and private clinics running at different places in Bhojpur district and sealed them however, its operation resumed after a short while. Despite no action is aken against such centres and private hospitals, their operators, owners and directors. These illegal ultrasound and pathology centres are running without doctors and in these circumstances, how is the examination and ultrasound are done is conspicuous. However, the Health Department has left the poor and hapless patients at the mercy of these illegal health centres to be exploited maximum.

The illegal clinics, private nursing homes, ultrasound and pathology centres are being run by unqualified and quacks at Mopti Bazaar, Khutaha Bazaar, Sahiyara, Bihata of Tarari block, Sahar, Khaira of Sahar block, Agiaw, Narayanpur Bazaar of Agiaw block, Kolear of Koelwar block, Sandehs of Sandesh block, Shahpur of Shahpur block, Bihia of Bihia block, Jagdishpur, Isadhi Bazaar of Jagdishpur block, Piro and other places of Piro block, Badahra of Badahara block, Pirauta and other places of Ara block.

Civil Surgeon, Ara Sadar Hospital, Dr. Suresh Prasad Singh is afraid of going to these illegal centre for investigation and speculated danger of going to such illegal health centres and added that there is also all chances of scuffle with the owners or directors of these illegal health centres that increases the problems of the health department. The employees of the health department are reluctant to go there for investigation and feel insecure due to occurrence of untoward incidents.
