When government is making all plans for women empowerment, a case of thrashing of a woman with sticks and kicks after locking her into a room for about two days by her husband merely for Rs. 50,000 at Mishrawalia Rampur village under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district has come out of closet. The victim somehow ran away from her home in the dark for about 6 kilometers to save her life. She reached the railway station by an auto-rickshaw and called her parents and narrated her ordeal. Her family members admitted her to the Ara Sadar Hospital. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Bihia police station in this regard and the police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the named accused.

In the FIR, the victim Kajal Devi said that she was married to Rakesh Chaudhary of Mishrawalia village under Bihia police station about nine years ago with pomp and show and with all the transaction and had two sons Priyanshu and Anshu and a daughter Sonali with the marriage. She complained that since her marriage about nine years ago, her husband demanded goods and sometimes money and her parents often fulfilled his demands and whenever his demand was not fulfilled, he used to beat her up.
She has been harassed and also thrashed for asking for money from her parents. She said that she and her family members tried to sit together to settle the issue but whoever goes to admonish, her husband trashed them too. She stated that Rakesh Chaudhary was compelling her to demand Rs. 50,000 from her parents for the last few days. She told him that he always keep demanding something or the other but her parents have no money and so thaey cannot fulfill his demand. When his demand was not fulfilled, he locked her in the room, beat her with kick and sticks for the last two days. He beat her list night as well and at 4am again beat her and left the house.
She said as her husband left the house, she also came out of the house and ran to safety. She took shelter in the house of her neighbour for some time. Later she ran on foot through the fields and took an auto-rickshaw from Shahpur and reached Buxar railway station where some women told me to return home. But she did not return and reached Ara railway station in an auto-rickshaw and called my parents and narrated her ordeals. After that her family members came and admitted her to the Ara Sadar Hospital.
She further said that Rakesh Chaudhary worked in the electricity department as a wire cutter. She tried to take action against him several times because she was fed up with his violent behaviour but it was managed every time.
SHO Bihia police station said that the victim has lodged a complaint against her husband for assault and harassment. He said that the police are investigating the matter. He said that the police conducting raids to arrest the husband.
