HOME GUARDS PERSONNEL STAGED DAY LONG DHARNA TO PRRESS THEIR 21 POINT DEMANDS

ARA----------------------------Altogether 850 Home Guard Swam Sevak Sangh (HGSSS) including lady Home Guard personnel staged a day long dharana in front of the office of the Bhojpur District Magistrate near JP Statue today in protest against step motherly treatment meted out to them by the government and also to press the 21 point of charter of demands. They HGSSS raised slogans against the Bihar government to press the fulfillment of their 21 point demands

Speaking on the occasion, retired former secretary, Kameshwar Singh, said that their demand is pending since 1984. Bihar government has turned a Nelson’s eye towards their demands and treated them step motherly. They performed their duties honestly and cleaned the pipe to the street. They also follow every order of the government and democracy. Even after that they are being looked at with contempt. He told that when the Supreme Court has given the order to give them everything like police but the government has not implemented it till date because of which they have been forced to organize a day long protest. If the government does not listen to them even after the strike, there will be a Central Committee meeting on August 31, 2024 and whatever decision is taken in it, they will do so. They are now not going to look back, they can behead but cannot bow down.

Lady Home Guard, Gudiya Kumari said that they have f21 point demands. They get uniform allowance every two years but they should get the same every year like police personnel. They do not get leave but there should be equal pay for equal work. She said that the lady home guard personnel face a lot of problems. They do not get leave at all. If they work for a day, they must be paid for that day otherwise the money is deducted. They work more and must be given TA and DA both and added they should be given uniform allowance every year.

The main demands of the Home Guard personnel included retirement benefit of Rs. 1.5 lakh, the condition of 20 years and 10 years should be removed and payment should be made to all the retired home guards at the time of retirement. In view of increasing inflation, the amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh should be raised to Rs. 5 lakh. The amount of ex-gratia grant given to Home Guards should be increased from Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh. Along with this, in case of illness or accident while on duty, Home Guards should be paid allowance for the period of treatment. Along with offices, Home Guard barracks with tap water, toilets, bathrooms and union offices etc. should be constructed in all the districts of Bihar. The Government of Bihar recognized Bihar Raksha Vahini Swayamsewak Sangh Central Committee, Bihar, whether building is allotted or land is allotted for Sangh office in Patna. Home Guards are given Bihar Police BMP, Rail, Jail Forest, Product, Mining, Fire Brigade, Drivers. In the restoration of 50% reserved space should be filled with Home Guards.
