ARA-----------------------Floral tributes were paid to a great journalist and revolutionary, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi on his 134th birth anniversary in a programme organized under the aegis of Lok Chetana Manch at Madan Jee Ka Hata under the chairmanship of Senator, Veer Kuer Singh University and Bhojpur District President, Bhojpur District Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Prof. Baliraj Thakur. Social Worker Shivdas Singh conducted the meeting while Janardan Mishra extended vote of thanks.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Baliraj Thakur described Vidyarthi Jee as a true patriot and said that Vidyarthi Ji’s appearance in Prayagraj was a great even in the field of journalism. He said that he started the newspaper ‘Pratap’ in the year 1913 which exposed the atrocities of the British. The Pratap was recognized the voice of the freedom struggle and national movement. He was killed while trying to stop a riot in Kanpur in the year 1931. His murder echoed a wave of mourning among the people of the country. Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation, in his condolence message on his martyrdom, said that he too wished to have a similar death.
Prof. Diwakar Pandey said that immortal martyr Bhagat Singh had worked with Vidyarthi Jee for a long time in the ‘Pratap.’ Dr. Nand Jee Dubey described Vidyarthi Jee as a great revolutionary. Social worker, Shivdas Singh said that everyone is proud of the patriotism of Vidyarthi Jee.
Dr. Satya Narayan Upadhayaya, Shashikant Tiwari, Harish Upadhyaya, Madhu Mishra, Dr. Mamta Mishra, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Dr. Ravindra Kumar Thakur, Dharamraj Thakur, Amitabh Kumar, Subhash Mishra and others also expressed their views on the occasion.
