ARA----------------------A one day Free Health Check-Up camp for adolescent girls and women was organized at the Red Cross Society, Ara branch auditorium jointly under the aegis of the Patna Abs Gynecology Society and the Indian Red Cross Society, Ara chapter with the support of IMA, Ara. A large number of women were examined for their health and medicines were distributed free of cost. Doctors from Patna along with other doctors volunteered their services. Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), Ara Sadar Hospital, Dr. K N Sinha, IMA district president, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Patna APPS Genie Committee Chairman Dr. Meena Samant, Dr. Rupa Goswami, Dr Rupam, Dr. Savita Rungta, Dr. Nirmala Verma, Dr. Rakhi Agrawal, Dr. Sangeeta Singh, Dr, Vibha Kumari inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial candle jointly and also hounered the distinguished guests with shawls.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K N Singh said that this camp is a meaningful initiative to keep women healthy. Women are the pillars of creation. If they remain healthy, the family and children will remain healthy. This will made the society and the nation healthy as well which will increase the pace of development and progress.

Dr. Savita Rungta and Dr. Meena Samant said that hormonal problems are arising in teenage girls due to irregular eating habits and irregular lifestyle due to which they are facing obesity and other problems. Girls aged between 13 to 18 years, without taking care of their health, irregular sleeping and eating habits are becoming a part of life due to which it is having side effects. Keeping all these subjects in mind, this programme was organized to spread awareness among the girls going from adolescence to adulthood and in this programme awareness is also being created on vaccination related to cervical cancer. It was also decided that in the coming few months, Red Cross Society, Bhojpur unit will make efforts to provide cervical cancer prevention vaccine to the adolescent girls.

Dr. Vibha Kumari, secretary, Red Cross Society detailed the importance of the programme and said that three to four health Check-Up camps are organized every year by the Indian Red Cross Society. In those camps it was realized that the number of women remain less in the course of investigation and they are not able to express their views openly. Therefore, this special programme was organized exclusively for women in which they can openly tell their problems related to gynecological diseases to the doctors and get advices. On this occasion, arrangements were made for blood sugar, thyroid, BMD and physical examinations. The senior doctors advised and examined the women present sincerely. After the tests, medicines were also distributed free of cost. A number of women were benefitted and demanded to organize such a camp in rural areas in the future.

Red Cross patron Dr. Savita Rungta and her husband Dr. S K Rungta and their entire staffs, Red Cross workers and all the employees played a very important role in successfully conducting the programme. The outline of the entire programme and the operation was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Vibha Kumari, Secretary, Ara Red Cross Society.
