ARA------------------------The four-day Chhath festival of lok-astha begins today with Nahay-Khaye. Chhath fasting people wash their face with mango stick and take bath. Later they paid obeisance and offered oblation to lord Bhaskar. After that they prepared Prasad of rice, gram pulse and bottle gourd and ate the Prasad.
There is a tradition of distributing Prasad among the nearby people and relatives. Chhath fasting people will observe Kharna fast on November 6, 2024 and with this 36-hours waterless fast will begin. During Kharna, there is a tradition of bowing to the moon after taking Prasad by making roti made of pure flour and kheer made of rice, jaggery and milk.
On November 7, 2024, those observing Chhath fast will offer oblation (argha) to the setting sun at the river, pond, canal and make shift pond at their rooftops of their houses and again next day i.e. on October 8, 2024, they again offer oblation (argh) to the rising sun and thus the four day Chhath festival will conclude.
Vibhu Jain, a social worker said that this festival is the biggest symbol of collective participation of all the Sanatanis. This festival is an eternal festival to express faith and gratitude towards nature by ending all the differences prevalent among human beings in the name of caste, creed, race and religion. On the occasion of the festival, people should take a pledge that they will give respect to all the Sanatanis brethren and stand by them at the time of any problem. They will contribute in building a better and developed India by ending small disputes among themselves.
In view of the atrocities and irreligious acts being committed against the followers of Sanatan culture across the world, they should understand that ‘if they divide, they will be divided, if they remain united, they will remain nobl.’
He further said that with the intention that eternal democratic qualities like mutual harmony, respect, help and acceptances should develop among all human beings in the world. He wished all the people of Bhojpur district a happy Chhath Puja.
