A division bench of the Patna High Court comprising Justice Ashutosh Kumar and Justice Jitendra Kumar granted bail to the former MLA of the CPI-ML from the Agiaw Assembly Constituency in Bhojpur district and ordered his immediate release. The lower court at Ara had sentenced him life imprisonment along with 22 others in connection with murder of J P Singh about nine years ago.

ARA---------------------------A division bench of the Patna High Court comprising Justice Ashutosh Kumar and Justice Jitendra Kumar granted bail to the former MLA of the CPI-ML from the Agiaw Assembly Constituency in Bhojpur district and ordered his immediate release. The lower court at Ara had sentenced him life imprisonment along with 22 others in connection with murder of J P Singh about nine years ago.
Manoj Manzil had won the Assembly Election from the Agiaw Assembly Constituency in Bhojpur district on the CPI-ML ticket in the year 2020. The Ara Civil Court awarded him life imprisonment along with 22 others last year in connection with murder of one J P Singh about nine years ago and since he was languishing in the jail. After his sentencing, his legislative term was also abolished. And now mid-term election for the Agiaw Assembly Constituency is to be held on June 1, 2024 along with the Parliamentary Election 2024. Meanwhile, Manoj Manjil filed bail petition in the Patna High Court. The Divisional Bench of the Patna High Court comprising Justice Ashutosh Kumar and Justice Jitendra Kumar granted bail to him and also ordered his immediate release.
Kunal, State Secretary, CPI-ML said that on February 13, 2023, Bhojpur District court had convicted the former CPI-ML MLA, from Agiaw Assembly Constituency in Bhojpur district, Manoj Manzil and sentenced him along with 22 aides to rigorous life imprisonment in a suspected murder case at Badgaon on February 13, 2023. After his sentencing, Manoj Manzil’s Assembly membership was also taken away. Against this decision, the party appealed in the Patna High Court that granted bail to Manoj Manzil and also ordered his immediate release. After granting of bail to Manoj Manzil, the State Secretary, Kunal welcomed the decision and said that he has full faith in the court and added that it is a victory of justice but added he that the decision of the lower court has still not taken in the matter of issuing a stay order from the court. He expressed hope that soon everyone will be out of jail.
