FLY OVER BRIDGE ACROSS THE WESTERN RAILWAY CROSSING IS IN DILAPIDATED CONDITION
The flyover bridge across the western railway crossing under Danapur rail division of East Central Raiway (ECR), Hajipur and the approach road built by the State Government connecting the railway over bridge are quite in dilapidated condition and is inviting accidents anytime. The bridge may collapse sooner or later if proper attention is not given and may invite an accident. Owing to this, the residents of Bhojpur district as well as the drivers coming from outside the district are facing a lot of problem while communicating the over bridge. Even after this, the road construction department and the railway department are not paying any heed to this danger and thus the lives of people are at stake and they pass through the bridge risking their limbs.

The bridge may collapse sooner or later if proper attention is not given and may invite an accident. Owing to this, the residents of Bhojpur district as well as the drivers coming from outside the district are facing a lot of problem while communicating the over bridge. Even after this, the road construction department and the railway department are not paying any heed to this danger and thus the lives of people are at stake and they pass through the bridge risking their limbs.
The railway over bridge is very old and was constructed in the 80’s with a view of divert heavy traffic on the Western Railway Crossing, for the ease of people, getting rid of traffic jam. But years later, the use of the railway over bridge started only after the Bihar government built the access road. The government constructed approach road in the year 2010. Since its construction, people had complained about use of inferior quality materials but no one paid heed towards it. The irony is that by the time the approach road was constructed by the Road Construction Department of the State Government, the railway over bridge built years ago was already quite damaged. The condition of the footpath built on the side of the bridge is also quite pathetic. It is broken in places. Grass has grown in it and the condition of hand rail is also dilapidate and is inviting danger every day.
The importance of the over bridge can be gauged with the fact that thousands of vehicles pass through this flyover bridge every day and the Ara town gets relief from traffic jam. This railway over bridge connects many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Kaimur, Buxar, Rohtas and Arwal of Bihar. Vehicles from Patna to Buxar go out of the town through this bridge. Vehicles from Buxar to Patna and to Sasaram pass through the bridge without entering the Ara town. Vehicles from Sasaram, Sahar, Arwal, Jehanabad go to Buxar without entering the town and this helps a lot in maintaining the traffic. Even after so many years of construction, street lights were not installed on the bridge and as a result people and vehicles passing through the bridge in the night face a lot of problems.
Potholes have appeared at many places in the railway over bridge posing a constant danger and there is always a risk of accident. The footpath built on either side of the over bridge has become very dilapidated. The footpath has broken down at more than a dozen places and so people do not use it. Still the Railway department is lagging behind and not taking any action.
