ARA--------------------------Floral tributes were paid to the former Prime Minister, Babu Jagjiwan Ram at birthplce at Chandawa in Bhojpur district to mark his 118th birth anniversary. Political leaders, social workers, teachers and professors garlanded the portrait of Babu Jagjivan Ram and paid their homage.
Babu Jagjiwan Ram was born on April 5, 1908 at Chandawa in Ara in Bhojpur district. His father was Sant Shobhi Ram and mother was Basanti Devi. He was the only son or his parents. His uncle was a compounder at Sant Lal Ram Medical College, Kolkata who played a leading role in educating Babu Ji. The birth anniversary was celebrating with cutting of cake. Babu Jagjiwan Ram ‘Samta Vichar Manch’ president, Surya Kumar officially inaugurated the birth anniversary celebration. Secretary Sudarshan Ram conducted the meeting. The villagers and advocates spoke about Babu Ji personality and deeds in detail. Devi Dayal Ram, JD(U) leader Lalmuni Ram, Shiv Shankar Ram, Surya Kumar, Sudarshan Ram, Sanjay Kumar, Kunwar Dayal Ram, Kshinath Ram, Surendra Prasad and others were present on the occasion and paid tributes. Later 30 boys and girls were given booklets and pencils as a token of Babu Ji’s education.
