FIVE MEMBERS OF A FAMILY KILLED, TWO INJURED

ARA (RNI) In a road accident near Bibiganj Bridge under Gajrajganj police outpost in Bhojpur district in the wee hour on August 22, 2024 while returning from Vindhyachal in Uttar Pradesh, five persons of a family including two women and a minor boy were killed while three other including a minor girl were badly injured. The police recovered the bodies and brought them to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem and admitted the injured there. The deceased were identified as Bhup Narayan Pathak 56, his wife Renu Devi 50, son Vipul Pathak 28, daughter Arpita Pathak 25 and grandson Harsh Pathak 3 while the injured were identified as Madhu Devi 25 wife of Vipul Pathak, Rajesh Pathak, father of Bhup Narayan Pathak and Beli Kumari 4, his granddaughter. Bhup Narayan Pathak and his son Vipul Pathak used to go to temples and houses frequently to perform worship and prayer. Police are investigating the matter.

SHO Gajrajganj police outpost Hari Prasad said that Bhup Narayan Pathak 56 along with his family members lived in an apartment at Aparna Colony near DPS Mor under Rupaspur police station in Patna district though he was resident of kamariyaw village under Azimabad police station. He along with his wife Renu Devi 50, son Vipul Pathak 28, daughter Arpita Pathak 25, daughter-in-law Madhu Devi, grandson Harsh Pathak 3 and granddaughter Beli Kumari 4  while the injured were identified as Madhu Devi 25, daughter-in-Law of Bhup Narayan Pathak and Beli Kumari 3, his granddaughter had gone to Vindhyachal in Uttar Pradesh in a car to have ‘darshan’ of Maa Vindhyavashini and also to perform puja and to offer prayer there. At about midnight they were returning home and when they reached near Bibiganj under Gajrajganj police outpost in Bhojpur district at about 5.30am on August 22, 2024, the driver tried to drive the car on the bridge at a speed of 100 kilometer per hour but he lost control over the steering and the car collided with the railing of the Bridge and crashed in which five of a family including two women and a minor boy were killed while a woman and a minor girl were badly injured.

Shibu Pathak, nephew of a deceased Bhup Narayan Pathak said that all of them had gone to Vindhyachal under Mirajapur district in Uttar Pradesh to have a darshan in Mahindra TUV 300 car on August 19, 2024. While returning, Vipul Pathak was driving the car and as the car reached near Bibiganj under Gajrajganj police outpost in Bhojpur district, Vipul Pathak lost control over the steering in his bid to drive the car on the bridge at great speed and the car collided with the railing. The car completely smashed and five members of the family were killed and two other injured.
