FARMERS OF BHOJPUR DISTRICT ARE TAKING STEPS TOWARDS VEGETABLE CULTIVATION UNDER THE MODERN AGRICULTURE—DR. P. K. DWIWEDI WITH PRODUCTION TRAY TECHNOLOGY, PRODUCE IS BEING READY 20-25 DAYS AHEAD OF TIME
--Farmers of the district are adopting production tray technology to cultivate vegetable to get yield 20 to 25 days ahead of time. New research is being done daily in the field of agriculture in Bhojpur district and farmers of the district are getting benefit of it. ARA--------------------------Farmers of the district are adopting production tray technology to cultivate vegetable to get yield 20 to 25 days ahead of time. New research is being done daily in the field of agriculture in Bhojpur district and farmers of the district are getting benefit of it. The farmers of the district have now moved towards modern farming. With this technology, the crop is being prepared disease free and in less time. For this, a nursery of plants is first prepared and those plants are planted in the field. Krishi Vigyan Kendra is training farmers to prepare saplings in the nursery using Production Tray technology.
According to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, many farmers are preparing disease free plants in 15 to 20 days. They are also earning good profits by selling plants to other farmers. Many farmers of Gadhani and other blocks of Bhojpur district are earning good profits by selling plants using production tray technique.
On comparison of production tray technology and plants prepared in the field, fruiting starts 20 to 25 days earlier. Along with preparing disease free high quality plants in a protected environment in a modern way, by timely planting in the main field, one can get 20 to 25 percent more production and 25 to 30 percent more profit.
To prepare the production tray, coco pit i.e. coconut husk or fibre is prepared as artificial soil by mixing mineral salts, wormy compost, polyite and it is put into the production tray. 100 to 200 kulhads are placed in one tray. All small pots are made in which one vegetable seed per cut is put and left for 15 to 20 days. Plants are prepared in this container and then they are planted.
Dr. P. K. Dwiwedi, head of the Agriculture Science Centre (SCADA), Ara, said that vegetable producing farmers are now leaving the traditional vegetable plants production techniques and moving towards modern techniques. Many farmers are doing this plant only business like nursery. Plants can be grown anywhere with this tray technique. By this method, pumpkin, cucumber, bitter gourd, papaya, nanua and other creeper plants are prepared. This method is very easy. The plants prepared with production tray technology can be easily planted in the field. With this technology, no part of the plant gets broken or wasted and all the plants grow evenly. The vegetable crops is ready is a short time. it does not suffer from pets or diseases as compared to plants grown through other methods.
