EXCISE DEPATMENT SEIZED 9744 BOTTLES OF IMFL, ARREST TWO LIQUOR SMUGGLERS
Sleuth of Excise Department seized 9744 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth about Rs. 45 lakh and also arrested two liquor smugglers from near Bibiganj Mor on Buxar-Patna main road in Bhojpur district. An FIR was lodged with the police under the New Excise Act and the police sent them to jail under judicial custody.
ARA (RNI) Sleuth of Excise Department seized 9744 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth about Rs. 45 lakh and also arrested two liquor smugglers from near Bibiganj Mor on Buxar-Patna main road in Bhojpur district. An FIR was lodged with the police under the New Excise Act and the police sent them to jail under judicial custody.
Assistant Commissioner, Excise Department Rajnish said that at the instruction of Bhojpur DM Tanay Sultaniya, a special drive has been launched against the smuggling of liquor in view of Holi festival. Meanwhile, he got information that a big consignment of IMFL is being smuggled from Punjab to Bihar on a truck bearing registration number of Uttar Pradesh. The Excise Department launched vehicle checking drive near Bibiganj Mor on Buxar-Patna main road. When a six-wheel truck bearing registration of Uttar Pradesh came, the police intercepted it. When searched, the police seized 9744 bottles of IMFL hidden inside the mobile lavatory like structure in the truck. The police arrested two liquor smugglers including the driver of the truck and produced them in the Ara Civil Court. Later the police sent them to jail under judicial custody.
