EXCISE DEPARTMENT SEIZE 5136 BOTTLES OF IMFL AND ARREST TWO LIQUO SMUGGLERS
Sleuth of Excise Department seized 5136 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth about Rs. 12 lakh loaded on a Pick-Up van from near Kalyanpur Mor under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district on Buxar-Patna main road and also arrested two liquor smuggles including the driver of the vehicle.
ARA (RNI) Sleuth of Excise Department seized 5136 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth about Rs. 12 lakh loaded on a Pick-Up van from near Kalyanpur Mor under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district on Buxar-Patna main road and also arrested two liquor smuggles including the driver of the vehicle. The arrested liquor smugglers were identified as Hari Shankar Kumar son of late Surendra Rai of Digha in Patna district in Bihar and the driver Vikas Mahato son of Bharosi Mahato of Digha in Patna. The police also seized the Pick-Up van bearing fake registration number and also a number plate bearing original registration number. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Bihia police station under the New Excise Act in this regard. The police sent the arrested liquor smugglers to jail after interrogation.
Assistant Commissioner, Excise Department Rajnish said that he got information that a big consignment of IMFL was being smuggled on a Pick-Up van to Patna from Uttar Pradesh. He immediately formed a police team under the Excise Inspector Ajit Kumar. The police team at once launched vehicle checking drive near Kalyanpur Mor under Bihia police station on Buxar-Patna NH-922 in Bhojpur district. Meanwhile a Pick-Up came from Uttar Pradesh. The police team intercepted and when searched, the police recovered 5136 bottles of IMFL worth about 12 lakh kept in a plywood box in the Pick-Up van and a number plate bearing original registration number of the vehicle. The Assistant Commissioner said that the Pick-Up van was plying on the road with the fake registration number.
