Ara (RNI) Hundreds of activists of the CPI-ML took out a procession from its office at Sritola under Ara town police station that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at Bus Stand where they burnt effigy of the Prime Minister Prime Minister Narendra Modi in protest against discrimination in the enforcement of discriminatory and unjust CAA and NRC laws. They were raising slogans ‘the CAA and NRC will not work in the country, withdraw the black laws, Narendra Modi’s dictatorship will not work.

Speaking on the occasion, CPI-ML town secretary, Dilraj Pritam said that issuing the notification of the of the laws implementing the discriminatory and divisive and unjust Citizenship Amendment Act passed in December 2019, just before the notification of 2024 parliamentary election, is a sign of a political conspiracy, as the Home Minister, Amit Shah had himself said while explaining the chronology of the CAA. After implementing this rule, INCR-NPR will be brought to the country wide level through which citizens who are unable to produce documents will be deprived of their citizenship rights. He said that the CAA has been brought with the aim of dividing citizens on the basis of religion which misleadingly talks about giving citizenship to non-Muslim refugees and snatching the citizenship of Muslims even deporting them from the country. It has become clear from the NRC exercise conducted in Assam and bulldozer demolition campaign being carried out at various places in the country that the poor of all communities including aboriginals and forest dwellers will be affected by it.

Dilraj Priyatam said that the country’s democratic opinion and the Common Citizenship and Constitutional Rights Movement have rejected the entire package of the CAA and NRC as an attack on the constitution. The notification of CAA rules before the parliamentary election has once again underlined the necessity of a mass movement to save the constitutional fabric of democracy. It has become necessary to out the Modi government from power in the upcoming elections.

He stated that we call on all sections of the society fighting for their rights, farmers struggling for the legal rights of MSP, labourers fighting for labour rights, government employees struggling for restoration of the old pension scheme, youths demanding secure employment, freedom, security and other rights. He appealed the struggling women, caste census, the deprived people, those demanding extended reservation, the people engaged in the struggle for regional identity and the constitutional guarantee of federal democracy to support the common citizenship movement against the discriminatory and divisive CAA. We have to remain united so that the conspiracy of Modi governemnt and the BJP to divide the people and divert the public’s attention from the mission of defeating the fascist forces in the upcoming elections fails.
