New Delhi. (RNI) It is said that the lotus blooms in the mud, which has no match in flowers. Similarly, great people are always born in unknown places and circumstances on earth. There are many such examples. In this, the names of Swami Vivekananda to Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri are included.
One such great personality is the former chairman of NEET, Dr. N.K. Mohanty, who not only gave a new dimension to urology medicine, but also set a record by bringing transparency in NEET exam to provide the country with the best doctors. He was the chairman of NEET in 2013. Prior to this, he was the Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung and ADG in the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Mohanty was born in a modest family in Balasore, a backward state of Orissa. He completed his MBBS in the year 1974 from Utkal University. After obtaining the degree of MS from there in the year 1978. Completed M.Ch. (Euro) in the year 1984 from AIIMS, Delhi.
He started his career as a urologist in Srinagar and shortly after became the founding head of the Department of Urology at Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi. At that time the best treatment for diseases related to Urology was available only in AIIMS Delhi, because Urology department was only there.
Dr. Mohanty, rich in meritorious talent, took training in France and Germany for better treatment. His 178 research papers have been published in national and 78 research papers in foreign journals. Dr. Mohanty associated with many institutions and organizations has been awarded several times.
With his hard work and dedication, Dr. Mohanty not only got rid of lakhs of victims from the problem of urinary and sexual diseases, but also established many records in the field of medicine.
Dr. Mohanty said that urology has developed a lot in the country today. 40 percent of the operations are being performed on patients from this field. Today the situation is that patients from all over the world suffering from urinary and sexual diseases come to India for treatment. Especially the number of patients from Asian countries is very high.
The number of these patients has increased a lot as compared to before. There are many reasons for this like uncontrolled food habits, living tolerance, climate change and many others, he said. L.S.
