Dastkari Haat Samitis Second Craft Exhibition

Hyderabad Feb 4(RNI ) : Dastkari Haat Samiti announces

of the vibrant craft exhibition with its second edition, set to unfold in the heart of Hyderabad on Sunday.

This event promises to be an exciting blend of traditional craftsmanship and innovative designs, featuring a wide array of products and experiences, at NITHM, National Institute Of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Gachibowli, Hyderabad to 3rd – 11th February 2024, from 11 am to 8 pm.

This year, visitors can explore around 90 stalls, showcasing an extensive range of traditional and modern crafts.

These include weaves, hand block prints, embroideries and a variety of crafts in materials like grass, bamboo, metal, wood and more. The exhibition will also feature an exquisite collection of jewellery, stationery, ceramic, terracotta items and traditional art forms like Gond, Kalighat, Phads, Pattachitra and Pichhwais. 

Highlights Include:Tribal bamboo craft from Chhattisgarh,Brass and paper crafts from New Delhi, Mud and leather works from Gujarat, Unique crafts like Peepal leaf and Chenapatna Toys from Karnataka,  Copper Enamel, Golden Grass, and Ceramic crafts from Maharashtra, and many more from across India.

Experience hands-on learning with artisans demonstrating:Pattachitra art from Bengal and Odisha,Gold Leaf embossed Pichhwais from Rajasthan, Madhubani art from Bihar, Tankha art from Leh, Terracotta from New Delhi, Sea shell art from West Bengal. 

Workshops Schedule (11.30 am to 1.30 pm):

- 5th Feb: Madhubani painting, Bihar

- 6th Feb: Gond Painting, Madhya Pradesh

- 7th Feb: Pattachitra Painting, Odisha

- 8th Feb: Clay work with painting, New Delhi

  • 9th Feb: Terracotta, New Delhi

The exhibition will also feature live performances of Rajasthani folk music and Kalbelia dance by internationally acclaimed folk artist Latif Khan Manganiar from Barmer, Rajasthan.

This creative exhibition is the brainchild of Ms. Jaya Jaitly, President and Founder of the Dastkari Haat Samiti, a renowned social and political activist dedicated to sustaining crafts and empowering artisans. Under her leadership, the Samiti has significantly contributed to the craft movement in India and globally.
