ARA-----------------------Two persons were burnt to death alive when a truck stuck in traffic jam near Englishpur village under Koelwar police station on Ara-Chhapara four lane and even the truck was burnt to ashes. The deceased were identified as Bhim Singh, 56 truck driver of Bhulkuaw village under Piro police station and Vikas Kumar, 20 cleaner and son of Shatrughan Mahato alias Bahgelu of Saraiya village under Krishagarh police station in Bhojpur district. Vikas was to be married at Mahuaar village in Patna district on May 5, 2025. Irate villagers blocked the road near Englishpur village with the bodies of the deceased and paralyzed movement of vehicles for about two hours. They were demanding to take action against those persons who are responsible for traffic jam and compensation for the families of the deceased. The blockade could be lifted after the positive response of the SDPO-2 Ranjeet Kumar Singh and other officials. Later the police recovered the bodies and brought them to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Yogesh Kumar, former cleaner of the ill-fated truck said that Bhim Singh and Vikas had loaded sand from Baruhi Sand Ghat under Sahar police station and had gone to Betia two days ago. While returning, the truck was stuck in traffic jam in the midnight and so both Bhim Singh and Vikas Kumar parked the truck and slept in it near Englishpur village under Koelwar police station. At about midnight, the truck caught fire and both the driver Bhim Singh and the cleaner Vikas Kumar who were sleeping inside the truck were burnt to death alive. Reportedly, the truck caught fire due to short circuit. Police are investigating the matter.
