DOUBLE MURDER MYSTERY SOLVED

Bhojpur police, following mobile surveillance, technical research and information of a bear man, arrested a person from Jonai village in Assam in connection with double murder case and thus succeeded in cracking murder mystery of Professor and his wife about 11 days ago in Ara.

Ara, 11 February 2023, (RNI): Bhojpur police, following mobile surveillance, technical research and information of a bear man, arrested a person from Jonai village in Assam in connection with double murder case and thus succeeded in cracking murder mystery of Professor and his wife about 11 days ago in Ara. The arrested miscreant was identified as Tapan Dey alias Deepak of Jonai village of Dhemaji district in Assam. The police recovered looted gold bangles, 12 gold earrings, three gold nose rings and Rs. 8100 in cash from his possession. He confessed his involvement in double murder.

Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav said that Prof Mahendra Singh and his wife Prof Pushpa Singh were brutally murdered at their residence at Katia locality under Nawada police station on January 29, 2023 and the police got information of murder on January 30, 2023 and reached the spot and on the basis of sniff dog, finger print expert, technical research and confidential information, the police succeeded in solving the murder mystery.

The SP said that during interrogation, Tapan Dey alias Deepak confessed before the police that he was in contact with the professor for the last 20 years and he had given money to Prof Mahendra Singh for a job but the professor neither returned his money nor managed a job for him. He had gone to the Professor on January 29, 2023 to ask for his money but the professor made a lame excuse and he had a tip with his wife. Tapan Dey alias Deepak told the police that Prof Pushpa Singh made a fun of him saying that he frequently demanded money that hurt him and so he with a knife attacked her and cut her throat and killed her. Meanwhile, Prof Mahendra Singh came out of bathroom and so attacked on him from behind and stabbed at least 26 times and killed him on spot. The Professor protested him and he cut his finger. After their murder, he caught an auto rickshaw from Katira Mor and threw both the looted mobiles on garbage under the overbridge. Later he went to a medical store for dressing of his finger and went to Patna by a passenger train. Tapan Dey alias Deepak said that he had gone to the professors at about 10am on January 29, 2023 and after their murder cleaned the knife and left it there. He then took jewelries from the Godrej Almirah and cash.

Bhojpur SP further said that the police team inquired into at least 500 CCTV footages, over 6000 call details, raided Nokha College, Aurangabad, Chhapara, several places in Patna. The police also got a CCTV footage from Ara railway station that revealed that he escaped to Patna and so the police raided several places Rajendra Nagar, Danapur and Patna but it was not easy to find him. Meanwhile, when the police team was inquiring people in between Secretariat and Lal Jee Tola, an old man with bear came and told them that the person whom they were looking for, lived in a house in this lane. The police team went there and the family members recognized the person with the photograph but the old man did not see further.

The SP said that Tapan Dey or Deepak’s family members at Lal Jee Tola told the police that he had come home on January 29, 2023 and went straight to the roof and the next day he left for his native village in Assam. Later the police along with nephew of Tapan Dey alias Deepak went Jonai in Assam and arrested Tapan Dey alias Deepak from there and brought him to Ara.
