ARA----------------------------In view of Durga Puja, Bhojpur District Magistrate, Raj Kumar held a meeting of ‘Shanti Samiti’ at district headquarter along with all the Sub-Divisional Office of the district headquarters and block headquarters and directed all the concerned officials to ensure peace and harmony during the festival and appealed the people to cooperate with the administration and also not to ear rumours. With a view to maintain law and order during the festivals, the entire Ara town is divided into five zone and the SDOs, SHOs, BDOs and COs are directed to be vigil round the clock especially in sensitive areas.
All arrangements have been made to maintain law and order during Durga Puja. District Magistrate, Raj Kumar and the Superintendent of Police, Pramod Kumar Yadav jointly said legal action would be taken against mischief mongers, eve-teachers, snatchers, pick pockets and biker gangs. Even the magistrates and police personnel would face the same music if anyone of them found lax during festival duty. Reviewing preparations with their officials they said the magistrates and the police personnel were deputed at different nook and corner of the district with an instruction to be present on the place of duty and should be extra vigilant during the festival and if reveler or dandy is found drunk, creating disturbances or eve-teasing should be arrested at once. They said police officers should be aware of the routes of the processions, escort them to the last points to maintain peace, law and order and ensure fearless movement of people. They said applications have been received almost all the puja samitis and all are issued licenses by putting 10 conditions before the organizers to ensure peace and prevent power theft and make them accountable under the conditions put forth by the administration. No procession would be allowed without obtaining licenses from the local police station.
The DM and the SP said that leaves of all the police personnel and other officials have been cancelled in view of Dussehara and directed the puja organizers to display contact numbers of officials, control rooms, fire brigade on front of every pandal and appealed people to celebrate the puja with communal harmony with maintaining coordination with the officials to maintain law and order and peace. They also directed doctors, para medical staffs to be present on their place of duty 24 hours during puja festival. They ordered the Executive Engineer, SBPDCL to maintain the supply line to avoid any untoward incident.
ASP said that CCTV cameras installation and fire combating system has been made mandatory. He said CCTV cameras would be installed at least 14 places besides manual videography of the processions and banned exhibition of firearms during procession. At least 27 places in urban area while 92 in rural areas have been earmarked sensitive and extra vigil would be kept there. The Puja Samitis are directed to ensure safety and security towards public and pandals. Magistrate and extra police force have been deputed in all the 34 police stations in Bhojpur district. Five flying squads under magistrates and police force have been formed to keep vigil in five zones in Ara 24 hours and perform their duty in three shifts.
All organizers have been asked to procure certificates from South Bihar State Power Distribution Private Limited to prove that they are using electricity in a genuine way. This has to be done before electrification and illumination of the puja pandals otherwise they would be hauled up but reportedly not a single puja organizer has taken power connection so far, said the Executive Engineer, SBPDCL. Lady constables and policemen in civil dress have been posted inside every important pandals for four day. Idol immersion routes have been physically verified to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav constituted Lady Police Biker Brigade of eight lady constables with wireless handset to deal with anti-social elements in Ara. The Lady Police Biker Brigade has been assigned the task of collecting information regarding anti-social activities, maintaining law and order and vehicle checking. The lady brigade will keep patrol and keep eyes at Ara railway station, Ara Sadar Hospital, Educational coaching centres and also keep vigil on areas vulnerable for people particularly girls and women.
