DJ AWARDS 10 YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO A GANJA SMUGGLER

District and Session Judge, Buxar Civil Court, Nandan Singh awarded a ganja smuggler 10 years rigorous imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000 on him. In case of non-payment of the fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months.

Buxar (RNI) District and Session Judge, Buxar Civil Court, Nandan Singh awarded a ganja smuggler 10 years rigorous imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000 on him. In case of non-payment of the fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months.

Special Public Prosecutor, Surendra Singh said that the GRP had arrested a person while boarding down from the Brahmputra Main at the Platform No 2 at the Buxar railway station under Danapur rail division of the East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur on April 28, 2005 and had recovered 15 kilogram of ganja from him. Later the GRP sent him to jail after lodging a named FIR against him. The arrested youth was identified as Mukesh Kumar of Masadh village under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district. He was on bail from the Patna High Court but was not appearing in the court despite several warrants. He was arrested last year in a case from Ara and was brought to the Buxar jail.

After hearing, the District and Session Judge awarded him 10 years rigorous imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000. He will have to undergo additional six months imprisonment in case he failed to pay the fine.
