ARA--------------------------Diarrhea outbreaks like endemic at Ujiyar Tola of Ward No 4 of Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) under Ara town police station at Ara and over six dozen persons are infected and two persons died of the disease so far but the health department does not rise to the occasion and hapless persons are left to the mercy of god.
Over six dozen persons belong to poor families at Ujiyar Tola of Ward No 4 of AMC at Ara are infected with diarrhea but they are not given proper medical help. The Ara Sadar Hospital management has not made sufficient arrangement for the treatment of diarrhea and no bed is reserved for the patients infected with the disease. The family members prefer to take their patients to private nursing home. Resentment prevails among the people against the officials of the Ara Sadar Hospital and exposed the hospital management.
Still the health department has not risen to the occasion and has not launched programme to door to door survey in Bhojpur district so that people infected with diarrhea can be identified and can be given proper treatment on time.
The patients particularly the poor patients are facing a lot of problems due to the indifferent attitude of the health department. Neither the Ara Sadar Hospital nor any Primary Health Centres, Referral Hospitals, Community Hospitals has made arrangement for the treatment of diarrhea patients. As a result their condition is pathetic.
Ward Councilor, Ward No 4 AMC, Lalpari Devi said that situation is somewhat under control though still several persons are infected with the disease. DDT powder is being sprinkled in the ward and is being cleaned but people do not trust the health department. Patients prefer private hospital to government hospitals.
Civil Surgeon, Ara Sadar Hospital Dr. Suresh Prasad Singh said that elaborate arrangements have been made. Doctors and paramedical staffs are camping in the area and also treating the patients and brought the situation under control. He said that the health department is on active mode and serious patients are being admitted to the Ara Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
ACMO, Ara Sadar Hospital, Dr. K N Sinha said that eating of stale food, food on which flies are sitting, infected food, dirty food, eating and living in unhygienic conditions are some of the reasons for occurring of diarrhea and so one should avoid these things and also avoid eating food items sold in the open. He advised to drink clean and boiled water, eat fresh food and live in hygienic condition.
