DEAD WOMAN RETURNED ALIVE AFTER A MONTH

Ara, 10 June 2023, (RNI): A married woman, Priyanka Devi declared dead about a month ago, returned alive and the in-laws brought her to the Udwantnagar police station saying that they did not kill the woman though she was not in a position to say anything. The police will brought her to the Ara Civil Court to get her statement registered under section 164 CrPC.

SHO Udwantnagar police station Awadhesh Kumar said that Priyanka Devi daughter of Vijay Shankar Mishra of Raghunathpur village in Buxar district was married to Mukesh Pandey son of late Virendra Pandey of Udwantnagar village under the same police station in Bhojpur district in the year 2018. Since the marriage her husband, Mukesh Kumar tortured her and one day he dragged her out of the house and so she lived with her parents. Priyanka Devi had filed an FIR with the police under Woman Police station in March 2022 against her husband and sister-in-law for torturing her. She had also blamed that her husband had illicit relation with his sister-in-law (bhabhi). Her husband thrashed her even during pregnancy.

After institution of FIR, the police called her in-laws who assured the police to keep her and would not further torture her. Later the in-laws took her with them but did not allow her to talk on mobile and continued torturing her. After one and half a month, the in-laws left their paternal house and moved to Bihata in Patna district. The in-laws neither let her talked on mobile nor to meet the family members and so they suspected that she was killed.

Vikas Mishra, Priyanka Devi’s brother filed a case with the police under Udwantnagar police station on March 10, 2023 against three persons including the husband in connection with murder of his sister for jewelries and cash in dowry. After institution of FIR the police were investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the in-laws reached the Udwantnagar police station with Priyanka Devi and told the police that she was alive. Her family members also reached the police station and thus curtain fell on the entire episode.

The SHO further said that the in-laws lived in Patna and Priynaka Devi also lived with them there. She is alive but suffering from paralysis and in unable to walk. She was brought to the police station on couch and is not in a position to say anything and so her parents took her with them.
