ARA------------------------Some armed miscreants fired on two brothers at Perhap village under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district today in which one brother was killed on the spot while another was badly injured. Police recovered the body and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem and admitted the injured there. The deceased was identified as Kamlesh Rai 52 while the injured was identified as Manoranjan Rai, brother of the deceased. Land dispute is said to be the cause behind the incident.
Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav said that a land dispute was going on in between cousin nephew and cousin uncle at Perhap village under Sahar police station of Piro Sub-Division in Bhojpur district. Owing to this, cousin nephew Priyanshu Rai shot at his cousin uncles Kamlesh Ran and Manoranjan Rai at Perhap village under Sahar police station today when they were going to Ara on a motorcycle. Kamlesh Rai died on spot while Manoranja Rai was seriously injured. After the incident, the SHO Sahar police station along with SDPO and other senior police officers rushed to the spot so that evidences could be collected for the Forensic Science Laboratory.
The SP stated that the initial investigation showed that father of Kamlesh Rah had three brothers but one of his uncle was issueless and Kamlesh Rai and Manoranjan Rai had taken over all his properties in their names and that was the bone of contention in between them and their cousin brother Priyanshu Rai and his family. Earlier, both the families had exchanged gunfire due to land and property dispute. In this context, when Kamlesh Rai and Manoranjan Rai were going to the Ara Civil Court on a motorcycle, Priyanshu and his aides waylaid in a bush nearby and as soon as Kamlesh Ram and Manoranjan Rai passed through the area, Priyanshu Rai and his aides fired on them in which Kamlesh Rai was killed on spot while Manoranjan Rai was badly injured. Later Priyanshu Rai and others escaped from the scene.
The SP further said that a special police team has been formed under the SDPO to arrest Priyanshu Rai and his aides and the police team is conducting raids to arrest them. He said that a named FIR has been lodged with the police under Sahar police station in this regard on the statement of the family members of the deceased and the police have taken into custody a woman accused of working as a liner in this incident.
It may be worth mentioning here that some armed miscreants had attacked the house of Kamlesh Rai in the month of April this year in which he was injured and his son Aditya Kumar was killed.
