ARA--------------------------The loco of all train engines will now be under the surveillance of voice and video recording system. Camera installed in the engines will record the track during operation along with the activities inside. The camera installed in the loco engines will work like black box installed in an aeroplane. In case of emergency and untoward incident, this will help in analyzing the causes of the incident. Kishore Vaibhav, Electric Engineering Executive Director, Railway Board, wore a letter to all the Zonal General Manager including all departments of East Central Railway (ECR) for installation of loco engine camera.
The railway has taken the policy decision to install cameras in loco engines on July 21, 2023 but after the accident of North-East Express from Delhi to Guwahati on October 11, 2023 near Raghunathpur railway station under Danapur rail division of the ECR on Pandit Din Dayal Upadhyaya Junction-Patna railway section, efforts have been intensified to implement this decision in a hurry. In a letter issued by the Railway Board just before a day before of the Dussehara holiday, information has been given about the installation of SIVIR system in 5000 loco engines. Research Design and Standards Organization (RDASO) of Railway has prepared the CVR system. The agency will also be responsible for installing it in all the loco engines and maintain it for five years. Railway sources said that after the accident in Baleshwar Odisha, it was decided to adopt this system and after the accident at Raghunathpur railway station, it should be installed in all loco engines soon. It is being said that after the train accident, due to lack ok real time data matching inside and outside the engine, it is difficult to get final and accurate results of the investigation. Even after 18 days of Raghunathpur accident, the railway investigation team has not been able to find out the cause of accident. Within half an hour, two trains had passed without any problem on the same track and the third train, North-East Express met with an accident. A railway official said that after installation of cameras in the loco engines, it will be possible to monitor the performance of crews along with video recording of track side and roof edge from the CVVRS and this can be used for various post even analyses. He said that the entire system will be IP based so that remote monitoring can be done. The data and video date recorded in it will remain safe for 90 days. This system has been designed by the RSDO according to the temperature ranging from minus 10 degree celcius to 55 degree celcius. It also has a provision for night vision.
CPRO of Hajipur Raiway Zone, Virendra Kumar said hat approval will be given to fit the Voice and Video Recording System (VVRS) immediately after receiving of letter from the Railway Board.
