ARA--------------------------People of Ara are destined to communicate dilapidated roads. The roads are said to be arteries of communication are full of potholes and broken at several places but due to indifferent attitude of the Bhojpur district administration. The road from Western Over Bridge to Dhobi Ghatawa Sun Temple, which is considered one of the busiest roads of Ara town, headquarter of the Bhojpur district, has become completely dilapidated. This not only disrupting movement of vehicles but also wasting people’s time and causing health hazard besides fear of accident.
The one kilometer road was constructed about a year ago with the estimated cost of Rs. 30 lakh. The road is not very busy but the whole day and traffic is also very heavy that causes traffic jam. To get rid of traffic jam, it was decided to make a divider on the road so that people can communicate on their lane and jam like situation could be avoided.
The road was constructed with inferior materials and so the condition of road is such that after a year it has become completely dilapidates and huge potholes have appeared at many places on road. The vehicles plying of this road very difficult and drivers get jerks while driving on the road. In such situation, there is all possibilities of an accident occur sooner or later. Even the pedestrians face a lot of problems while communicating on the road that causes health hazard. People complain slip disc, spinal injuries and other problems. The situation becomes worse during rainy season when the potholes filled with water but the department as well as the Bhojpur district administration are lax and are reluctant to take necessary action.
Bihar government has instructed the contractors for roads construction to maintain the road for five years but the instruction has no effect on the recalcitrant constructors. The dilapidated road is not being repaired and in absence of maintenance and repair, the condition of road is getting worse. Even the dividers are half constructed as their construction has not been completed. The purpose of divider is not being achieved despite no action is being taken in this regard either.
Bazaar Samiti is situated on the roadside and pressure of vehicles remains even more as the vehicles from Bihari Mill, Sasaram, Arwal, Sahar on way to Buxar or to enter into the Ara town pass through this road and continuous plying of vehicles on this road makes it difficult for pedestrians.
