BOMB BLAST IN A HOUSE SASARAM IN ROHTAS DISTRICT, HALF A DOZEN INJURED, TWO ARRESTED

Sasaram, 3 April 2023, (RNI): Some miscreants threw bomb on the roof of a house at Chhedi Lal Lane of Mochi Tola area under Sasaram town police station in the morning today at about 4am though no casualty was reported so far. Bomb squad rushed to the spot and the entire area was cordoned off and police patrolling has been intensified. Over 100 persons were arrested from Sherganj and Mochi Tola areas so far. Tension prevails in and around the areas following the incident though situation is stated to be under control. Police are investigating the matter and are trying to identify the persons who had thrown the bomb. All educational institutions have been closed till April 4, 2023.

Earlier at least half a dozen persons were injured four of them seriously when a powerful bomb blasted in a house at Sherganj locality under Sasaram Town police station in Rohtas district on April 1, 2023 evening. Due to bomb blast, the house raged to ground. The injured were admitted to the Sasaram Sadar Hospital but the doctors referred them to the Varanasi Trauma Centre after first aid where condition of four injured persons is stated to be serious. The injured were identified as Md Imran son of Md Ahamad, Sheikh Rashid son of Sheikh Sharafat Hussain, Adil Khan son of Neyaz Alam, Md Akhlak and Gulam Husain sons of Nasaruddin of Sherganj locality and Sayyad son of Mazeed Alam of Pathantoli in Rohtas district. On information, police force rushed to the spot and started investigating the matter. Rohtas SP Vineet Kumar and the Rohtas DM Dharmendra Kumar went to the spot and inspected the situation. Section 144 has been imposed in the area and internet service was snapped.

The DM said that the roof of the house and a Scooty were completely damaged due to bomb blast and it seemed that bomb blast took place due to mishandling. Two persons have been arrested in this regard so far and some mobiles were seized. These mobiles were used to spread rumour through WhatsApp. Several persons are on police radar including the admins and action is being taken against them.

Rohtas SP Vineet Kumar said that action would be intensified after the report of the Forensic Science Laboratory and added over 1200 police persons and officials have been deployed in the town to keep round the clock vigil on the situation to main law and order in the area. He also appealed the people to cooperate and not to pay heed to rumours.  He said that FSL team has come to the spot and took samples to Patna but the officials of the FSL were tight lipped and refrained from saying anything on the issue. They said that only after laboratory test, it would be clear as to what chemical was used in making the bomb.

Two groups of two localities in Sasaram had clashed on March 31, 2023 after some tiff  during Ram Navami procession on March 30, 2023 that disturbed peace of the area. People of both the groups continued arson and stone pelting activities since March 30, 2023. Several houses and properties worth lakhs of rupees were set ablaze  The hoodlums went on rampage and forced the businessmen to down their shutters at Navratna Bazaar, Jani Bazaar, Mubarkganj, Chukhandi and other market places. Rohtas district administration was on their toes and police force has been requisitioned from other districts too. A number of people migrated to saver places.
