Bihar Diwas was celebrated in Bhojpur district at Veer Kuer Singh Stadium at Ramana Maidan on Saturday with much fanfare. The function was organized by the Bhojpur district administration. Almost all the MLs, MLCa, MP were present on the occasion. Bhojpur DM Tanay Sultania inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial candle. School students took out ‘Prabhat Pheri’ from Raman Maidan that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at the Veer Kuer Singh Stadium. Cultural Programmes, Drawing, Painting, exhibitions and Debate competitions were also organized on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DM said that Bhojpur is a historical district and famous worldwide and highlighted the achievements of the government and said about the welfare schemes of the government. He said that Bihar Day is celebrated every year on March 22 which commemorates the formation of Bihar in 1912. It is an occasion to honour Bihar’s glorious past. He that the government is bent upon to fulfil the seven point vision of the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and added that would be fulfilled with the active cooperation of the people. He said that Bihar Day, the rich cultural heritage of Bhojpur was also presented. Folk Songs, dances, dramas and historical events related to Veer Kuer Singh were staged. Young talents brought alive the art and traditions of Bihar. Bihar Diwas is not just a festival in Bhojpur but an important occasion to cherish our cultural roots and move forward towards the future. From this land of Veer Kuer Singh, a resolution was taken that Bihar and Bhojpur will be takne to new heights of development.
Earlier, at least 5000 boys and girls of different schools took out a ‘Prabhat Pheri’ in the morning from Ramana Maidan that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at the Veer Kuer Singh Stadium. Banks, DRDA, ICDS, Agriculture department, district administration, Red Cross, Jeevika, Mahila Helpline and other NGOs set up their stalls highlighting the different welfare schemes of the government. Kabaddi, Archery and painting competitions were also organized and prizes were given to the successful participants. Horse show by the MMP was also staged to mark the occasion. Later kavi-sammelan and colourful cultural programme were organized.
