BHOJPUR POLICE BUSTED GANG OF AXIS BANK ROBBERY

With the arrest of a miscreant, Bhojpur police claimed to bust inter-state gang bank robbers involved in the Axiz Bank loot at Katira locality under Nawada police station after two months of incident. On the revelation of the arrested miscreant, the police recovered the motorcycle used in the bank loot, from Patna district. The arrested miscreant was identified as Sunny Kumar of Imadpur village under Bhagwanpur police station in Vaishali district. During interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the bank robbery and also disclosed names of his aides.

Ara (RNI) With the arrest of a miscreant, Bhojpur police claimed to bust inter-state gang bank robbers involved in the Axiz Bank loot at Katira locality under Nawada police station after two months of incident. On the revelation of the arrested miscreant, the police recovered the motorcycle used in the bank loot, from Patna district. The arrested miscreant was identified as Sunny Kumar of Imadpur village under Bhagwanpur police station in Vaishali district. During interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the bank robbery and also disclosed names of his aides.

Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav said that some armed miscreants had looted about Rs. 17 lakh from Axis Bank situated at Katira locality under Nawada police station on December 6, 2023. After the incident, he formed a police team under the ASP to arrest the robbers and also to recover the looted cash. The police team on the basis of CCTV footage and technical sources continued conducting raids. Meanwhile, on February 3, 2024, the Saran police, during vehicle checking near Dariyapur, the police arrested two miscreants when they were fleeing after committing loot at Gopalganj. One of the arrested miscreants Sunny Kumar, during interrogation revealed that he was involved in the Axix bank robbery. Later the Bhojpur police brought him to Ara and the police are interrogating him intensively. The SP further said that all the miscreants involved in the Axis Bank robbery have been identified and police team is conducting raids to arrest them. He added that interstate Niranta Group in which miscreants of Vaishali, Saran and Samastipur is involved in the Axis Bank robbery.

The SP stated that the miscreants had made full proof plan for the robbery at Axis Bank at Katira locality under Nawada police station. The mastermind of the Bank robbery is an inmate of West Bengal jail, Nirantak alias Rup Singh, Bengal alias Shubham Patel alias Suraj Singh alias Butan of Dhanauti under Industrial police station in Vaishali district who is languishing in the jail of West Bengal. He rose to status of gangster from a mobile thief and operated from behind the jail and got committed loot and kidnaping in different States including Bihar. It has come to light in a police investigation that he used new faces for getting crime committed at different places every time. His family lived under Industrial police station area in Vaishali district and the police will take him on remand for interrogation. The miscreants had conducted recce the bank for about a week. A member of the gang had come to Ara and after recce, he returned Patna. The members of the gang lived in separate localities in Patna in rented houses and commit crimes. The miscreants carried out the incident in a very vicious manner and for this the colour of the vehicle used in the incident was also changed so that no one could identify them. The miscreants again recced the bank on November 29, 2023 after coming from Patna and returned after finishing their plan and changed the colour of the vehicle. They on December 6, 2023 morning, they came to Ara on the same vehicle from Patna and after committing robbery in the bank they returned to Patna.

It may be mentioned here that the miscreants came in a vehicle in the morning on December 6, 2023 and five miscreants entered the Axis Bank at Katira locality in guise of customers at about 10.15 am and downed the shutter of the bank. They made captive all the 12 staffs of the bank captive, snatched their mobiles and confined them in the canteen of the bank. Meanwhile, a customer somehow fled away and as a result the miscreants became scared and they could not loot the locker and they decamped with about Rs. 17 lakh from the counter. The whole loot episode took only 14 minutes. As the news of the bank robbery spread, the police gheraoed the bank building and warned the miscreants to surrender for about half an hour but the miscreants escaped from the reach of police till then. The manager of the Bank had lodged an FIR with the police under Nawada police station against five persons in this regard.
