Bhojpur police arrested two miscreants from Tar Mathia village under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhojpur district in connection with double murder. The arrested miscreants were identified as Satyendra Giri and Shrawan Kumar of Tar Mathia.

ARA--------------------------Bhojpur police arrested two miscreants from Tar Mathia village under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhojpur district in connection with double murder. The arrested miscreants were identified as Satyendra Giri and Shrawan Kumar of Tar Mathia.
SHO Agiaw Bazaar police station Priyanka Gupta said that some unidentified armed miscreants had slit throat of elderly couple with sharp edged weapon at Tar Mathia village under Agiaw Bazaar police station in Bhojpur district when they were sleeping in their house in the night in January 10, 2025. Marks of attack with sharp edged weapon on many parts of their bodies and stains of blood were seen at several places in the house and goods kept in the room were scattered. When they did not come out of their room in the morning next day, the locals became suspicious. The elder son when entered the room through roof, as the room was closed from behind, found his parents lying dead on the floor in the pool of blood. ASP along with police force rushed to the spot and also requisitioned a team of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and started investigating the matter. An FIR was lodged with the police under Agiaw Bazaar police station in this regard on the statement of the elder son of the deceased Suresh Giri in this regard. Reason behind the incident is still to be ascertained. The deceased were identified as Sri Bhagwan Giri 70 and his wife Shiv Kumari 65. They were priests in a temple of the village.
Suresh Giri, elder son of the deceased said that he lived separately behind the parent’s house and ran a grocery shop in the village and provides food to the family while his younger brother Umesh Giri along with his family members lived in Rourkela in Chhatisgarh. He said that he parents after taking meal in the late evening retired to their room to sleep. When he woke up in the morning, he found the door of his parents’ room was closed from behind though they used to sweep the front of the house and performed worship and offered prayer in the temple of the village and so he entered the room through the roof and found their bodies lying in pool of blood. He at once informed the police and the police recovered the bodies and brought them to the Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem. Suresh Giri further stated that he and his parents had talked with his daughters on mobile and after that all of them retired to bed.
Cyber DSP Abbu Saifi Murtaza said that the villagers informed him that elderly couple was murdered mercilessly in the village though the reason behind the incident is still to be ascertained. He stated that a team of FSL has been requisitioned that collected samples and took them to Patna for examination.
The SHO further said that after the involvement of the accused came to fore during investigation, the arrested them from their house and sent them to jail after interrogation.
