BHOJPUR POLICE ARREST A MURDER ACCUSED

ARA (RNI) Bhojpur police arrested a miscreant and claimed to solve the mystery of murder of a youth on the Kulhariya Railway OverBridge under Koelwar police station. The arrested miscreant was identified as Om Prakash Mahato alias Prakash Kumar son of Kamta Mahato of Ibrahhimpur village under Ara town police station.

Bhojpur SP Mister Raj said that motorcycle borne armed miscreants had shot dead a motorcycle borne youth on Kulhariya Flyover under Koelwar police station on Sakaddi-Nasariganj State Highway in Bhojpur district in the evening on January 19, 2025. The deceased was identified as Dharmendra 28 son of Ram Ayodhya Rai of Dumari village under Bihata police station in Patna district. The police had recovered three blank cartridges from the spot. An FIR was lodged with the police under Koelwar police station in this regard. The SP taking it seriously formed a police team under the SDPO-2 Ranjit Kumar to arrest the miscreants. The deceased had criminal background. He lived in the house of his maternal grandmother at Sakaddi. He was a driver of a dreaded criminal Mithilesh Paswan and was involved in several criminal activities. After the murder of Mithilesh Paswan, Dharmendra ran the gang. It was said that someone had fired on a member of Gorakh Mahato gang at Ahirpurwa under Ara town police station in Bhojpur district and this incident happened in the retaliation. Old enmity was said to be the cause behind the incident. The deceased was also wanted in murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act cases.

The SP further said that the police was conducting raids to arrest the miscreants following technical resources. Meanwhile, the police got the clue that Om Prakash Mahato alias Prakash Kumar was also involved in the murder. Following mobile surveillance, the police team conducted raid at Ibrahimpur locality under Ara town police station and arrested Om Prakash Mahato alias Prakash Kumar. He said that the police have identified other miscreants and would very soon arrest them. He stated that a case of murder was registered with the police under Ara town police station in July 2018 in connection with murder and another case was lodged under attempt to murder and Arms Act in May 2018.

He said that during interrogation, Om Prakash Mahato alias Prakash Kumar confessed that Dharmendra Rai son of Ayodhya Rai of Dumari village under Bihata police station in Patna and Om Prakash Mahato alias Prakash Kumar of Ibrahimpur village under Ara town police station in Bhojpur district had long standing enmity. Some days before the murder, Dharmendra Rai and his associate had gone to Om Prakash Mahato alias Prakash Kumar at his shop and had threatened him with dire consequences. To take revenge, Dharmendra Rai was shot dead. The SP further said that gang rivalry has come to fore in this murder and the police are investigating and conducting raids to arrest the rest miscreants.
