BHARATENDU HARISHCHANDRA WAS THE PIONEER OF RENAISSANCE AND IS CONSIDERED THE FATHER OF MODRN HINDI—PROF BALIRAJ THAKUR
Floral tributes were paid to the mentor of Hindi literature in modern India Bhartendu Harishchandra on his 175th birth anniversary in a function organized under the aegis of Lok Chetana Manch today. Prof. Baliraj Thakur, district president, Bhojpur District Hindi Sahitya Sammelan presided over the meeting. Dr. Ayodhaya Prasad Upadhayaya and poet Janardan Mishra jointly conducted the meeting while Baban Singh extended vote of thanks.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Baliraj Thakur said that Bharatendu Harishchandra was the pioneer of Indian renaissance and is considered the father of modern Hindi. He added that prose writing in Hindi was also initiated mainly by his hands. His biggest work was to infuse nationalism in Hindi literature.
Prof. Diwakar Pandey, Head, Department of Bhojpuri, Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU) said that Bhatendu Ji is the people’s poet. Describing Bhartendu Ji as th originator of Hindi plays, he said that he was also the founder of Hindi theatre. Dr. Satyanarayan Upadhayaya said that he did not hesitate in coming to the theatre for the progress of Hindi.
Social worker, Shivdas Singh said that “Harishchandra Magazine’s has great importance in the field of journalism. He was also a great seer.
Dr. Mamata Mishra, Shashikant Tiwari, Madhu Mishra, Vashishth Muni Chaudhary, Rangji Singh, RAjeshchandra Pathak, Pintu Singh, Rakesh Tiwari, Madheshwar Pandey, Narmadeshwar Upadhayaya, Dr. Baban Singh also described Bharatendu Harishchandra Ji as a visionary thinker.
