AMC IS RELUCTANT TO PROVIDE BASIC AMENITIES TO PEOPLE

ARA (RNI) Despite passing of budget of over Rs. 10.52 billion for the financial year of 2024-2025, purchase of several cleaning equipment and more than 400 cleaning workers, the Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) failed to provide even basic amenities to the residents of Ara and they are destined to bear the brunt of the officials of the AMC.

There is a drain of about 15 to 20 feet of Hume Pipe near Chandawa Mod of Ara which runs from east to west of the road near the Mod. The drain gets clogged every month whereas it takes more than 10 days to clean it. Despite so many resources, the AMC is struggling to clean even a small drain and takes more than 10 days. It is a big question mark on the efficacy of the AMC. In such a situation, the working system of the AMC can be gauged.

The sanitation workers and sanitation supervisor are saying for the last six monts that the drain is broken in the middle due to which the soil gets filled in the Hume pipe causing disruption in flow of drain water and the drain water is littering on road. It is now frequently asked as to why no effective action is being taken by the AMC. Does the AMC want to provide such facilities to the residents of the locality? Water accumulating in the drain may breed mosquitoes and foul smell may come out of the drain and people get worried. When the drain is broken in the middle and why is it not being repaired? AMC workers say that it will have to be demolished with the JCB but the drain is not being demolished due to the convenience of people.

Ara Municipal Commissioner, AMC Niroj Kumar Bhagat said that he cannot do anything in this regard as the road is not under his jurisdiction. This is a PWD road and something can be done on it only by the Road Construction Department. Now people ask the question that the AMC collects all kinds of taxes from the people of the town but the AMC is not rectifying the problems. If this is a matter is related to the Road Construction Department, why the AMC officials take initiative in this regard and solve the problems by corresponding with the Road Construction Department.

The residents of the area are making round of the Road Construction Department for the last six months for the solution of the problem but the Executive Engineer, Road Construction Department only makes big talks instead of taking any concrete action and giving assurances.

Drain water is flowing on the road from Girija Mod to Chandawa Mod as all the drains are blocked but the officials of the AMC are not paying any heed towards it. The officials and the employees of the AMC are busy in their own business. The situation is such that even in Krishna Nagar locality, the streets have become like hell as drain water littering on it and such situation is prevailing in the area for the last six months.
