AMC FAILS TO CLEAN DRAINS OF ARA DESPITE SPENDING CRORES OF RUPEES

Ara (RNI): Even after 15 years since the establishment of Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC), it has not been able to clean up Ara town which is the prime duty of the AMC. Almost all the drains are clogged and people are in trouble. The AMC failed to clean up or de-silt the drains even after spending of crores of rupees. The AMC could not organize its duty in better way and today due to blockage of these drains, the residents of Ara are facing difficulties.

The residents of Chandawa locality are facing problems since seven days due as water blocked drains Chandawa Mor. All efforts of the AMC to clean the drains fail. The AMC uses old technology but the drains could not be cleaned. Drain Water has started flowing on road and pedestrians and local people have to pass through the dirty water.

The drains at Chandawa Mor crosses the National Highway. Thousands of vehicles pass through this road every day. From two wheelers to 14 to 16 wheeler trucks and buses ply on the road, the drains are made of RCC but a drain of community cemented pipe has been installed. Not only this, a similar thin drain has been installed in front of it jamming the drains again and again and the water is not able to flow through it and the local residents are facing a lot of problems.  The drain water litters on road causes ditches and bread of the road and a lot of money is spent in repairing the damaged road. Despite a wide RCC drain is not being installed that invites anger of the people. The AMC, even after 15 years, could not make itself capable of taking the help of new technology and purchasing machines with new technology whereas crores of rupees are the income of the AMC and are spent on cleaning roads and drains. Cleanliness is one of the main tasks of the AMC but it failed to develop the Ara town as per the requirement.

This road is 20 feet wide near Chandawa Mor and connects Ara to Buxar. People going to Buxar from Ara towards Maulabagh take this road. People and even vehicles coming from Jehanabad, Sasaram, Arwal, Patna after passing the Western Railway Over Bridge from this side, go via Buxar through this road.

People said that the AMC is indifferent towards people problem. It is interested only in hiking municipal tax without providing any facility. After establishment of AMC, they had a hope that they would get facilities which were till aloof from them but now they feel cheated. They alleged that the Ward Councilors and officials of the AMC are more interested in getting more and more benefits from the resources.

Municipal Commissioner, AMC Niroj Kumar Bhagat said that the drains will be cleaned in any case. Whatever obstruction is there, will be removed. Cleaning the drain and keeping the town neat and clean is an important task of the AMC. More resources will be collected for it if needed.
