ADJ X AWARDS CAPITAL PUNISHMENT TO A PERSON AND ALSO SLAPPED A FINE OF Rs. 6 LAKH ON HIM

ARA (RNI) Additional District and Session Judge X, Ara Civil Court, Devanand Mishra awarded capital punishment to a person in connection with murder of a businessman and also slapped a fine of Rs. 6 lakh on him.
Public Prosecutor Nageshwar Dubey said that a gold businessman Om Narayan Gupta was praying in his shop in the morning at Nathmalpur Bazaar under Sinha police station on December 29, 2019 while his brother Sriman Narayan Gupta was in the shop when some armed miscreants came on a motorcycle and pumped bullets into the body of Sriman Narayan Gupta in the shop and escaped from the scene. The injured was rushed to the Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctor referred him to the Patna Medical College and Hospital though the family members admitted him in a private nursing home there where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Badahara police station against Nityanand Singh, his brother Ravi and others on the statement of Om Narayan Gupta, brother of the deceased blaming that the miscreants shot dead his brother merely for not giving Rs. 1 lakh as rangdari. The Bhojpur police and a team of STF arrested Nityanand Singh from Bahadurgarh at Delhi and Haryana border after 20 days of murder.
After hearing both the parties, the ADJ X, Devanand Mishra convicted Nityanand Singh on March 4, 2025. The court announced quantum of punishment and awarded Nityanand Singh of Nathmalpur village under Badahara police station capital punishment and also slapped a fine of Rs.6 lakh on him.
The police said that Nityanand Singh had criminal background and has become a problem for the police. He had demanded extortion from the businessmen threatening them with dire consequences at Nathmalpur and its vicinity and also had fired to unleash of reign of terror in the areas in between 2019-2020. Prior to the murder of Sriman Narayan Gupta, he had demanded Rs. 5 lakh extortion from a mobile shopkeeper at Saraiya Bazaar Suraj Kesari and also had threatened with dire consequences and had fired at the shop in between August 27 2019 to August 31, 2019. He had killed Sriman Narayan Gupta on December 29, 20219 merely for Rs. 1 lakh as extortion and again had demanded Rs. 5 lakh extortion from a mobile shop owner with a threat of dire consequences. FIRs were lodged with the police in all these matters.
The police further said that Nityanand Singh along with the aides was arrested on May 24, 2014 in connection with tractor theft and was landed in the jail. After coming out of the jail on bail on June 15, 2015, he was again arrested in connection with Scorpio loot and murder of the driver. In the year 2017 he was made named accused for hatching plan to loot a Scorpio from inside the jail. He frequently misbehaved with the police officers to unleash reign of terror in the areas.
