A ONE DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR GRAIN PRODUCING FARMERS ORGANIZED

ARA (RNI) Under the joint aegis of Agricultural Science Centre Bhojpur and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Bhojpur, a one day training programme  for food grain producing farmers was organized at Kulharia, Koelwar in Bhojpur.

Addressing the farmers, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Bhojpur, Dr. Praveen Kumar Dwiwedi said that under the climate friendly agriculturre programme, grain based crop production programme is being given a commercial form in Bhojpur district and especially in Koelwar block in future. He said that the programmes is being organized mainly regarding millets. Along with environmental protection, the main objective is to be successful in establishing its identity especially for grain based dishes in the coming times.

Ravish Ranjan, an experienced organic farming farmer of Bhojpur district, while sharing his experience, informed that land and water conservation will be better if these crops are planted using organic method. These should be harvested after hathiya Nakshatra. For crop protection, two kilograms of organic fungicide Trichoderma will be required for one acre which should be mixed with compost and sprayed before field preparation and you will get better results even with the use of fungicide.

Organizer of the programme, Ram Nath Thakur, a social worker and secretary, Antyodaya Chetana Mandal said that this programme is funded by the NABARD, Bhojpur under which along with soil testing of farmers, improved seeds and special training programmes are also being organized at regular intervals.

Dr. P K Dwiwedi advised that while preparing the field, mix one quintal of slaked lime per acre, the same amount of mustard or neem cakes and one tailor ash of Than Mill in the field and plough it and also row the crop in the east-west direction on the ridge and sow. This will prevent the crop from falling and will also protect the crop from water logging.

In the coming time, a programme is also proposed to form a farmer producer organization at Khulharia and establish a processing industry here. It has also been selected along with Sakaddi under the Climate Friendly Agricultural Programme by the KVK, Bhojpur and demonstration of various types of maize, millets and paddy crops based crop production systems will also be started on a large scale soon.

Bhola Singh, Shailendra Pratap Singh, Mahavir Dutta Pathak also expressed their views and all the farmers looked determined and excited to carry out this programme well.
