52^ND FOUNDATION DAY OF BHOJPUR DISTRICT CELEBRATED WITH POMP

ARA---------------------------The 52^nd foundation Day of Bhojpur district was celebrated with great pomp at Nagari Pracharii Sabhagar. Bhojpur District Magistrate Raj Kumar and Mayor, Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) Indu Devi along with others inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial candle and blowing of balloons.

Speaking on the occasion, the DM said that the real identity of Bhojpur District is the legacy of the work of the great freedom fighter of first war of Independence in the year 1857 Veer Babu Kuer Singh. He said that the residents of Bhojpur district can proudly say that they had got one more Ganga as their inheritance and on the other side, they got the Sone Canal through which the people of the district produce paddy and help feed the other districts. He stated that the Bhojpur district is moving on the path of continuous development and added that due to the concerted efforts of the government, thousands of schemes are being run for the welfare of the common people for development of the district. He further stated that the district has been very famous in the field of education and tourism since time unmemorable.

Mayor, AMC Indu Devi said that even today they can be proud of the historical heritage of Bhojpur. She said that Ramana Maidan in the heart of Ara which has Babu Kuer Singh’s Park on one side while on the other side is the Methodist Church and the temple of Maa Aranya Devi is the special identity of Ara.

Painting and quiz competitions among the students of different schools were also organized to mark the occasion and the successful participants were awarded. The Ara Collectorate was illuminated. Many public representatives and officials were among those who addressed the foundation day. Among the prominent present on the occasion were District Board Chairperson Asha, District Magistrate’s OSD Satya Prakash, Director Sunil Pandey, Sub-Divisional Officer, Ara Sadar, Jyotinath 

Shahdev, District Education Officer Ahasan, District Planning Officer Abhay Kumar Singh, District Panchayati Raj Officer Jayant Jaiswal and many senior Deputy Collectorates.

Bhojpur turned 52 years old and so the foundation day ceremony was organized to mark the occasion. The DM lit 52 lamps on the campus of Ara Collectorate in the evening. In this lamp lighting programme, the garden of the Ara Collectorate was decorated in such a way as if a tree of garden had been lit with lamps.

Bhojpur district came into existence on November 10, 1972 by dividing the old Shahabad into two halves. On November 10, 1972 Shahabad was divided into two districts, one is called Bhojpur and the other is called Rohtas and so the foundation day of Bhojpur district is celebrated every year on November 10. Keeping this tradition alive even today, the DM celebrates the foundation day.
