The Commercial Tax Department brought the settlement scheme for the third time for the VAT defaulters of the year 2005 or even earlier and gives a chance to all the defaulters of Bhojpur district to avail the benefits. This scheme is for the traders doing all types of businesses including textile, furniture and goods who have outstanding dues during VAT period or before.
Nearly 450 defaulters in Bhojpur district have outstanding amounts of Rs. 9.5 crore ranging from Rs.50,000 to 2 crore. The amount has been outstanding to the department for more than 20 years. This time, the department is taking flexible approach and requesting everyone to deposit their revenue dues while giving the benefit of the scheme for the last time.
This will give the traders an opportunity to take small profits and deposit their dues while on the other hand the department will also generate revenue. According to the Commercial Tax Department, the approved defaulters will have to deposit 100% of the dues, a rebate of 35% will be given in the tax determined by the department. Under the third scheme, there will be a special rebate of 10% in interest and penalty. All these discounts will be available only those traders who deposit the original sanctioned amount in lump sum.
State Tax Joint Commissioner, Shahabad Division, Naresh Kumar said that due to lack of awareness, those businessmen who have not availed the benefits of this scheme can avail maximum benefits by depositing their dues. This scheme will be valid till August 31, 2024 and after which action will be started.
