35 Yrs RI TO TWO RAPISTS, FINE OF Rs. 6.26 LAKH ON THEM

Additional District and Session Judge VI, Bhabhua Civil Court, Ashutosh Kumar Upadhyaya awarded 35 years of rigorous imprisonment to rapists out of four and also slapped a fine of Rs. 6.26 lakh on each of them in connection with outraging modesty of a teenage girl in a car.

Bhabhua, 6 March 2023, (RNI): Additional District and Session Judge VI, Bhabhua Civil Court, Ashutosh Kumar Upadhyaya awarded 35 years of rigorous imprisonment to rapists out of four and also slapped a fine of Rs. 6.26 lakh on each of them in connection with outraging modesty of a teenage girl in a car. Trail is going on against third accused Kalam in the juvenile court and evidence is on against the fourth accused Arbaz in the court of ADJ I.

Mantu Pandey, advocate of the victim said that a teenage girl was going to her school on November 19, 2019 when four youths decoyed and gangraped her in a car and threatened her with dire consequences if she dared to say anything about the incident. Later they uploaded the video in the social media on November 24, 2019 that triggered hoodlums at Mohania in Kaimur district and several shops were set ablaze. Police had to use force and impose section 144 in the area. Mantu Pandey further said that the ADJ VI Ashutosh Kumar Upadhyaya awarded 35 rigorous imprisonment to two of four named accused and also slapped a fine of Rs. 6.26 lakh on each of them but he added that the penalty was not imposed under POCSO Act and so the family members of the victim would knock door of the Patna High Court as the victim was teenage.
